Bernstein, the moniker of Cody Norenberg, lives and breathes music. As a DJ he has been playing everything from techno to afrobeat for over a decade. His obsession with music doesn't stop at being a DJ, in a little over five years he has established himself as a distiguished producer of exceptional, soulful electronic-based music. bernstein's eclectic and unique DJ sets blend minimal and classic techno with neo-soul, early euro-pop, and mind-bending jazz that are exceeded only by his live exhibitions which offer a majestic invitation into deep, grooved, and soulful techno. Since moving to Japan in 2004 he quickly entered the ranks of Tokyo's vibrant techno movement after joining Nordform Records. bernstein has performed in famed venues such as Sapporo's Precious Hall, Tokyo's Space Lab Yellow and Club Module along side a world-class list of artists including Jeff Milligan, Ryan Elliott, DJ Klock,Taeji Sawai, Portable and numerous others. bernstein continually pursues new avenues in his musical interests working in select collaborations that include Milleology, a relaxed soundscape creation with Yasuharu Motomiya (Grain Records) and Us or Them, a surreal plunge into emotion and mind through music with Matthew Cooper (RaceCarProductions). With bernstein's dedication and expansive knowledge into the world of music, he is certain to continue expanding hearts and minds wherever listeners appear. With an impressive release schedule this year on such labels as Tropic, RaceCarProductions, White Label Music as well as Nordform, bernstein continues filling our ears and minds.
